Ok, so a post ago I said I had to reign in the spending for August because I've been tripping (more on why I've been tripping in a coming post).
So my cyber sister in financial freedom, Single Ma called me in her comment, pointing out that since I said it all out in the open, I had folks watching, so my August monthly report shouldn't be all like "I went way over on XYZ."
Realizing that I put myself on blast (which, incidentally, really was the point of the blog... accountability), I immediately opened my spending record to make sure I wasn't already in the red before the month closed out.
Thankfully, I'm still good. I can't buy another stitch of clothing (I bought some stuff on sale during tax free weekend to replace some stuff that wasn't going to make it) and I can do maybe one more meal out, but that's it.
Of course, as always, a few events are coming up to disrupt my flow, but with careful planning and restraint, even those shouldn't mess me up. I may go to a concert with some girlfriends... or not. My guy is coming for a visit the end of the month... as much as I love to do it big when he's here, we may have to keep it real and do it big on the super cheap.
And, as busy as the last few weeks have been, I have no objection to staying my behind in my apartment the next few weekends doing nothing but reading and watching DVDs I already own. Sounds good to me.
Speaking of tracking every penny, Single Ma also has a great post about automating her money. It's a good system.
Peace and blessings,
DH
and just think, what if you hadn't been smart on your trip, or what if you'd spent 100% of what you budgeted to spend? coming in under budget before you wrote that post seems to be helping you now. single ma helped you stay on the good foot. :-)

Accountability. That's why I love blogging! There are only two weekends left in the month. You can do it!
