Yours truly got a promotion and a raise!
Yes, you may recall my rants about my job earlier in 2009, but I stuck with it, gritted my teeth, made improvements in my department, was forthright with senior management and, occasionally, groused over a beer with other disgruntled co-workers, or whined and whined to my guy and my friends.
And it paid off (well, most of it, not so much the grousing and whining). I've got an impressive new title and a significant salary increase, with a possible salary review within six months (which means that I could be earning MORE before year-end... but I better read the fine print and make sure there is no way I'd be earning LESS!).
My plan for the raise -- SAVE IT! Not save it all to sit on, but save some for some fun (how about another trip abroad? Back to Japan? Finally to Spain? Sit on the beach in Tahiti? Boost the clothing budget, yeah, I think I will!).
Most of this money, however, will go to my IRA, which I pretty much have not saved in as I worked on my e-fund. I am still not excited about saving for retirement, but I guess this what intelligent grown-ups do. Boo.
I will post more details about my plans for the raise in another post. Have to think through some things.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I vote for Japan. JAPAN JAPAN!
I'd love to go back for a little visit but those hotel rooms are killer on your budget.

Congrats! Who says they aren't giving raises and promotions in these troubled economic times?!?!?!

I'm just now catching up on my blogs! I wanted to say congrats! It's true that hardwork and persistence really do pay off! I'm sure you'll figure out something really wonderful to do with that extra cash!
