I ranted about how my job was sucking not too long ago.
It's actually gotten a little better, but I'm keeping my options open...
I also wrote about how the company is ok, but in this economy, there are no champagne bottles popping over here. Though no one said that we weren't getting raises or wage increases, we all knew it wasn't happening (how do we know, because some of us, including ME, ASKED for raises. If you don't ask, you will definitely not receive). And after I asked repeatedly about bonuses, the vague messages I got from management pretty much said "All signs point to NO."
Thankfully, I was wrong. We got bonuses. My bonus was enough to plug the hole moving and shopping made in my e-fund. There was also enough left to pay for my auto repairs.
I've been saving for close to a year for my 32nd birthday trip and I had enough in there to make my impulse trip to Tokyo possible. I just had to keep saving to fill in the Tokyo hole. But now, with my bonus, I can pretty much fill in the whole budget balance for both trips. The money I had been putting away for the vacation will now be diverted to my e-fund -- I'm still aiming for 6 months of living expenses!
Any remainder (still doing some math), will go into the e-fund.
YIPPEE!
I should also be on track to max out an IRA by April 2010.
I'm actually excited about redoing my budget this weekend.
Shi shi shaaa!

Tokyo, huh? Well I loved it when I was there and I bet you will, too. Do take the daytrip to Kamakura--the buddah there is magnificent, the best one in Japan. And you can actually go inside it--who knew it was hollow!

Great news on the bonus. In regard to your previous, you might want to make sure the additional income doesn't impact the deductibility of your IRA contributions.

All the hole patching sounds great! And I love King of the Hill :-)

Now I'm really jealous! Tokyo??? I hope you have a blast and make sure you post some pics because I want to live vicariously since my travel fund is slow going at the moment. *sigh*
Also, congrats on the bonus! We probably won't get merit increases this year and if we do, I probably won't get them as I've been a bit mouthy lately. They've made some stupid policy changes that I haven't agreed with and I'm pretty vocal, so I'm sure my "attitude" will need an adjustment or something like that. Whatever. So, enjoy the bonus for me, too! Hehehe!

I don't know why this makes me giggle, but YOU, a King of the Hill fan!? That's awesome...I have a mental picture/image of all my favorite Anonymous bloggers and that just didn't fit! But I love the show too (and I'm in Texas, so it strikes close to home) - this new information will add to your cache!
