We got paid this past week and I noticed that my check didn't look any different than it had before I made adjustments to my taxes, upped my 401k contributions and designated some money to be taken directly from my check and deposited into my emergency fund account.
I dunno, but I figured out one thing: I'm bad at math. :-)
Somehow, only half of what I wanted sent into my E-fund is going there, a mistake in my math. I doubled my 401k contributions, but, perhaps it just hasn't taken effect in my paycheck yet because my contribution was the same as before.
I must admit that it was comforting to see that my check wasn't all small, but then, of course, I realized that even if my check is smaller, I haven't lost any money -- I am gaining money by saving it properly.
So, Monday morning I'll go back, refile my direct deposit forms (with the correct amount diverted). I'll also find out what the heck is going on with my 401k contributions.
PS -- Sorry for the big gap in posts. It's summertime man!
