The Beast Unleashed
For two months, I've held back the reigns (not that it did me much good -- I was in the hole two months running).
I was itching to buy some new clothes -- because I'm a spendthrift? Because I'm a fashionista? Because I'm materialistic?
None of the above.
I'm just sick of wearing the same thing over and over. And I mean the same things. Generally, I'm good at mixing and matching and creating new outfits by switching up accessories or a shirt.
But in the cold, there's not too much I can do along those lines. I've got to be warm. I've only got a few sweaters and pieces that fit the bill.
And you can't layer sweaters...
Anyway, excuses, excuses.
I decided to walk over to Georgetown from work since the sun is still out after work (finally!) and it's not freezing this week. The brisk walk listening to my iPod felt good.
But then I passed some shops and wanted to look around.
I went into H&M, where I never shop because I always thought it was a little woman store. I'm 6'1 and I'm slim but not skinny.
But I found these BANGING high waist, wide leg jeans that touch the floor when I stand in bare feet. You know how rare that is for me? Do you know how good those jeans felt? Do you know how cute I was in them?
So I put them on the "I gotta have it" hook.
Then I pulled on three jackets, loved two, hated one and tried on the first two again so I could decide to take one or leave them both.
I got the stone colored trench coat. The sleeves are too short (which is what always happens to me anyway -- I'll fix it with some banging bracelets or something), but it's a cute coat.
Now, this is H&M, so it's running on the thrifty side of the price tag, but by the time I got the jeans, trench and a chunky wooden necklace ("The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize!"), I spent $30 shy of my monthly clothes budget.
But I wanted a yellow top to go with the whole outfit. Like bright yellow. Ray of sunshine yellow. Canary yellow. Unfortunately (or luckily, depending on how you look at it), I couldn't find the right color or style. All the tops were either too green, too dark or too pale. Drat.
So I went to MAC for s lighter, brighter look eye look (instead of the dark smoky look I've been rocking). Um, spent some bank there.
Then I put my happy butt on the Metro and came home.
I came right up to budget. I can't spend another dollar... but dang I want some shoes!!!
Well, you did a helluva lot better than I did, I spent my monthly clothing budget by Mar. 2nd!! Good for you for spoiling yourself a bit! Enjoy your new clothes! ;)

Well, lady, it's in your budget...you did good. April (and a new, replenished clothes budget) is only two weeks away-ish.
